Amman - 24 Guzzi Motorcycles delivered to King Abdullah’s escort

31 January 2012
King Abdullah II of Jordan’s personal escort took delivery of 24 Guzzi motorcycles on 29 January 2012, on the occasion of the meeting in Amman between the Jordan sovereign and Piaggio Chairman Roberto Colaninno.
The order, worth about 600,000 euros, arose from the interest shown by King Abdullah in Italy’s prestigious marque during the Jordan Royal Family’s State Visit to Rome in October 2009. Like his father, Hussein, King Abdullah is a huge motorcycle fan and during his visit expressed his admiration for the bikes used by the Head of State’s escort. The order, for which the Jordanians have already paid in full, includes training in Italy for 4 specialist Jordanian mechanics for maintenance purposes.
Mr. Colaninno hopes that the order will act as a visiting card for the Italian marque and pave the way to a market, limited as it may be, where Piaggio is not yet present. A market with potential that could open up interesting prospects in other countries in the region of interest to Piaggio.
